Fiorentina midfielder Edoardo Bove has asked the Serie A for special permission to sit on the bench in the game against Udinese.

Bove has returned to action for the first time since a horrific collapse on the pitch at the Stadio Artemio Franchi during Fiorentina’s Serie A clash with Inter Milan in early December, which saw the game suspended and postponed.

Under Italian law, Bove is unable to participate in any sporting events because he has had a pacemaker implanted in his body.
The 22-year-old, who belongs to AS Roma, was discharge from the hospital on Friday, December 13, after having a subcutaneous defibrillator implant. This device, while removable, will play a key role in his football future as Bove needs to undergo medical tests to find out the cause of his collapse and decide if it’s possible to remove it.
This means that if the Roma midfielder, who is on loan at Fiorentina for the 2024-25 season, wants to continue playing in Serie A, he will have to remove the equipment or move abroad like Christian Eriksen.
